Course overview

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of microscopy techniques and their practical applications in the field of biomedical research. Through hands-on training, students explore cutting-edge advancements in sample preparation, imaging and data analysis, and apply their new skills to authentic research scenarios. Upon completion of the course, students will have a deep understanding of the principles and applications of a range of microscopy technologies. By working in teams to design and carry out microscopy experiments, students will build on their collaborative problem-solving and communication skills, that are essential for future career success. This course aligns with the programs goal of preparing graduates for making impactful contributions to commercial biotechnology research.

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain the principles and processes behind current microscopy techniques used in biomedical research and the biotechnology industry.
