Course overview

This course provides students with an understanding of the various technologies available for the treatment and remediation of environmental problems in air, soil and water systems.

Course learning outcomes

  • Outline and discuss the theoretical basis for a range of technological solutions aimed at mitigating and repairing societal influences on the carbon cycle
  • Undertake basic calculations to assess the impact, practical applicability and/or validity of various environmental technologies
  • Integrate existing scientific knowledge, information and datasets to outline solutions to environmental quality problems at a given site/locality
  • Work as part of a team to research and assess technology solutions
  • Provide recommendations for the implementation of technology solutions and/or outline considerations for government policy development
  • Communicate scientific findings in a professional manner
