Course overview
This course aims to equip learners with the ability to identify, quantitatively analyse and evaluate environmental and climate risks for a range of natural and engineered systems.
- Foundations Of Environmental And Climate Risk
- Data Analysis And Statistical Methods
- Risk Modelling Techniques
Course learning outcomes
- Describe the major categories, causes and consequences of environmental and climate risks
- Describe how uncertainty arises in environmental and climate systems, including demonstrated understanding of the concepts of chaos and emergence
- Describe the framework, principles, key concepts and the process of risk management
- Apply and can communicate the outcome of probability theory and statistical methods to environmental and climate risk analysis contexts
- Apply graphical approaches to describe the causal structure of an environmental or climate risk problem, and use this to undertake a quantitative risk assessment to evaluate potential solutions
