Course overview

This hands-on course covers introduction to mechatronic engineering, its basic concepts and elements, mechanical and electrical system layouts, introduction to actuation systems and various sensors, data acquisition and data processing systems. It aims to give framework of knowledge that allows students to develop an interdisciplinary understanding and integrated approach to practical and applied engineering problems.

  • Introduction To Mechatronic Systems
  • Sensors And Actuators
  • Mechatronic System Design

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain the architecture of mechatronic systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding of analogue and digital interfacing
  • Design simple measurement systems using different sensors
  • Demonstrate the ability to design basic mechatronic systems using different actuators and sensors
  • Demonstrate the ability to program a real-time hardware platform for logic control and data acquisition
  • Work independently and in a team to undertake the design of the instrument and digital systems for mechatronic systems.
