Course learning outcomes

  • Classify different types of soil and determine their engineering properties
  • Analyse soil compaction and other ground improvement techniques
  • Explain and calculate the influence of water flow on the engineering behaviour of soils

  • Examine and calculate the shear strength of soils
  • Interpret experimental data and report the results of laboratory experiments to a professional standard
