Course overview

This course will equip the students with the knowledge and skills required to solve fluid flow equations and interpret pressure transient data to obtain reservoir properties. The course describes the detailed process from well-testing selection and design to data acquisition, validation, and interpretations for different types of reservoirs.

  • Introduction To Fluid Flow In Porous Medi
  • Pressure Build-Up And Drawdown Tests
  • Advanced Well Testing

Course learning outcomes

  • Select appropriate well testing methods and interpret tests' data
  • Describe the fundamentals behind all types of well test (DST, Formation Testing, Buildup, Interference and Pulse Tests, etc.)
  • Calculate the reservoir and well properties that can be obtained from various types of tests
  • Analyse data and assess strengths and limitations of well test interpretation
  • Derive long term production forecast from a short test
