Course overview
The applications of digital technologies have been escalating in many areas of mining operations. This course covers the fundamental concepts related to these applications, framed in the contexts of operational efficiency, safety, system engineering and mine optimisation. The aim of the course is to provide some basic training to students in the areas of digital evolution in mining, including automated unit operations, data collection and data analytics, sensors and remote control, communications and Internet of Things (IoT), simulation and digital twins, system integration and system engineering.

- Explain on-site and off-site digital system integration of mining operations and the concept of digital twins
- Construct digital twin mine models and apply mine simulations to solve practical digital mining problems
