This course provides an overview of different aspects of professional practice and engineering management, encompassing management skills, leadership, decision-making, and ethics, with particular focus on project management to prepare students for managerial roles in engineering firms handling complex systems.

Course learning outcomes
- Understand the principles and theoretical framework of engineering management systems and apply this knowledge within the context of an engineering project.
- Demonstrate project management skills and techniques to create an engineering project plan.
- Evaluate and track the progress of engineering projects through the application of suitable monitoring and control techniques.
- Make informed decisions to address complex project challenges, considering budget and resource constraints, potential risks, safety issues, and sociocultural, sustainable, and ethical considerations to ensure stakeholder wellbeing.
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills which are appropriate to the engineering field, apply inclusive teamwork and professional practice skills in a group project setting, and critically reflect on project outcomes, successes, and learnings.
