Course overview
In this course, students will apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to the investigation of a particular problem, and to negotiate and plan an engineering project. There will be no formal syllabus as the students will work with their academic supervisor. The project topic will be based on the needs of industry, research interests of an engineering academic or if approved, a personal interest of the student. The project can be undertaken individually or in a group.
Course learning outcomes
- Consult with a client to establish a brief which contains broadly stated final objectives
- Write a review of relevant literature (published data, text books, theory, patents and commercial solutions)
- Undertake a detailed analysis of a problem and write a problem statement
- Develop a project plan to execute a project
- Present a progess report to academics and peers
