Course overview
This course will consolidate students' understanding and skills in designing and producing materials prototypes and artefacts for production employing both digital and traditional techniques and processes. To allow students to develop their expertise in operating state-of-the-art machinery and in maintaining best workshop practices. Additionally to introduce sustainability into the design and production process and to ensure all practices meet WHS legislative requirements. In this course students will consolidate their knowledge and skills in using a range of digital and traditional technologies and machinery and equipment, as well gain a working knowledge of state-of-the-art machinery, to design and produce objects and artefacts. Students will learn to maintain the equipment within a workshop, all the while understanding the specific Safe Operating Procedures applicable to that equipment and the legislative framework surrounding its operation. Students will additionally be inducted into sustainable practices in the use of materials, processes, technologies and systems.
