Course overview
This course is designed to encourage Engineering students to reflect on their internship experience/s and demonstrate how exposure to a professional environment has helped to develop a range of professional competencies and employability skills. Students will align internship tasks and objectives to the Engineers Australia Stage 1 competencies and consider individual strengths and areas for personal improvement by reflecting on what they have discovered about themselves throughout their study experience.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply project management techniques to devise and synthesize engineering solutions to complex open-ended problems
- Design and execute the proposed activities and/or tasks to answer the questions and problems as required
- Demonstrate ability to apply engineering methods and processes within the specialised discipline (e.g. operations, facilities, equipment, software, design, research)
- Provide insight to the breadth and depth of competencies expected for a professional engineer
- Communicate effectively and professionally, in writing and verbally, engineering concepts and information to both technically informed and lay domains
- Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively as a team member, contributing to team leadership as the situation requires and where appropriate
