This course provides foundational knowledge in the earth sciences for engineering students alongside a practical introduction in construction surveying.

Course learning outcomes
- Understand the fundamentals of geology and recognize how geologic processes impact engineering and surveying
- Identify rocks and minerals using knowledge of how they form and their physical properties.
- Apply observational skills to recognise and interpret various 3D geological features from geological maps
- Examine the fundamentals of surveying and spatial sciences to recognise their practical applications and limitations.
- Collaboratively create, analyse and present spatial data.
