Course overview

This course provides analytical knowledge and practical skills in machine learning and machine vision systems, covering image acquisition, image enhancement, morphological image processing, image segment, image description and image representation, regression and classification in supervised learning, clustering, reinforcement learning, artificial neural networks, convolution neural networks and deep learning.

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain essential concepts of machine vision system and image processing
  • Develop a process to capture an image and enhance it for further processing
  • Apply various image processing techniques to detect and segment objects of interests from digital images
  • Compare machine learning algorithms to identify the most suitable one for various applications
  • Demonstrate the ability to select, justify and apply an appropriate machine learning algorithm to a given industrial application
