Course overview
This course equips students with skills to design prestressed concrete including the design of beams and slabs for flexure and shear and the design and detailing of anchorages.
Course learning outcomes
- Describe the principles of prestressed concrete design, including the components, method of action, common applications and design considerations
- Analyse and design flexural members subjected to bending and shear
- Design and detail anchorage zones to resist bursting and allow for stress transfer and development
- Demonstrate application of AS3600 to the design of prestressed concrete elements at the serviceability and ultimate limit state
