Course overview

The aim of this course is to build preservice teachers’ ability to apply and scrutinise a range of contemporary practices, including inquiry approaches, to engage, challenge and assess scientific understanding of all learners. They will critically analyse prevailing modes of teaching science and explore ways to enhance participation and engagement for all students. Preservice teachers will analyse how key curriculum documents, such as the Australian Curriculum and SACE, shape secondary school science teaching and learning, and empower their students to be scientifically literate and informed citizens.

Course learning outcomes
