Course overview

The aim of the course is to develop curriculum planning and pedagogical skills in the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area for the secondary years of schooling. This course will focus on the development and application of creative pedagogical approaches in the middle years classroom and curriculum design and planning for the SACE.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify and analyse the factors to be considered in the design, planning and implementation of sequences of learning in Humanities and Social Sciences specialisation within the context of the Australian Curriculum: HaSS and/or SACE
  • Critically analyse curriculum and syllabus issues relevant to a Humanities and Social Sciences specialisation
  • Apply evidence-informed pedagogies that support learning in HaSS
  • Develop, select, and use a range of assessment strategies that support learning in HaSS
