Course overview

The aim of this course is to prepare students to engage in effective and engaging early childhood pedagogical practices as informed by key policy, theory and research. This course combines the core content from the Effective Pedagogical Practices course (module 1) and the Engaging Young Learners and Guiding Behaviour Course (Classroom management) (module 2) and a third module developed for this course on implementing effective practices for young learners (module 3) to meet the AITSL standards addendum requirements of content for both these core courses, as well as ACECQA requirements for early childhood education.

  • Critically reflect on and implement effective planning and teaching strategies within early childhood settings
  • Identify core components of creating a positive learning environment for all learners through guiding behaviour and engaging young learners
  • Apply theoretical knowledge of engaging young learners and guiding behaviour in positive learning environments
