Course overview
To explore the place of physical activity in a range of populations from a health and wellbeing perspective. Students will develop an understanding of physical activity and the range of health benefits it offers across the lifespan through participation in a range of physical activities. Key skills will derive from measuring physical activity levels of children, data analysis and digital literacy, through teaching and learning a range of physical activities. Students will also consider the place of physical activity and healthy eating in home lives and will gain knowledge and skills in planning and delivering physical activities in a range of settings, aligned with the primary curriculum.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of physical activity, the health benefits of regular physical activity across the lifespan, aligned with the dimensions of wellbeing
- Explore and identify participation in physical activity in different cultures and demographics, analysing strategies to promote uptake of regular physical activity
- Apply the requisite knowledge and skills to develop and teach an effective series of physical activities to primary years school children
- Evaluate pedagogical practices influencing the development of confident and competent movers through a range of physical activities
