Course overview

This course aims to develop students' understandings of the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area for the secondary years, with an emphasis on the History, Geography and Civics and Citizenship and Economics and Business and associated knowledge, skills and pedagogical approaches.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Humanities and Social Sciences as a specialisation in a secondary school context, through a critical analysis of curriculum, pedagogical approaches and resources
  • Design lesson plans and learning sequences demonstrating evidence-informed pedagogies that support learning in HaSS
  • Develop a teaching plan for an out-of-school learning experience that is achievable, engaging and accessible
  • Apply skills of reflection and critical analysis to a teaching and learning sequence
