To apply instructional practices guided by Prophetic principles, models and pedagogies synthesised with contemporary pedagogical approaches for quality teaching and learning and as tools to develop as reflective practitioners.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically evaluate the ways contemporary trends in classroom instruction are informed by educational theories and societal perspectives
  • Critically analyse theoretical perspectives that inform nuances of learning and the learning process in Islamic education for best practice teaching of Muslim students
  • Explore and analyse the relationship between teacher and learner in the Islamic education tradition and the implications on the learning process, management of learning environments and learner behaviour and the learning partnership
  • Critically analyse and apply Prophetic principles, pedagogies and models of teaching in a synthesis with contemporary understandings of quality teaching and learning for alignment of assessment, curriculum (for example, Australian National curriculum (nominated Key Learning Area) and pedagogy in classroom settings
  • Critically evaluate notions and understandings of the role, function and status of a teacher as well as effective teaching via synthesis of the Prophetic Standard, the Australian Professional Standards for Teaching and recognised International standards for teaching
  • Implement frameworks, pedagogies and rubrics within an Islamic pedagogy incorporating Prophetic and contemporary professional standards for teaching as tools for reflective practice
