Course overview

This course provides a brief introduction to all elements of designing a research project, the Teaching Dissertation. It provides strategies for searching for and critiquing literature and developing a research proposal. The course provides guidance on writing the Teaching Dissertation as well as ongoing supervision of the research process.

Course learning outcomes

  • Evaluate and synthesize research materials to identify relevant areas for research
  • Develop and present an appropriate Research Proposal
  • Gather, form and critique knowledge from published research
  • Seek knowledge through the practices and inquiry modes of a scholar-educator
  • Develop and apply an appropriate research design
  • Communicate the research process, findings and appropriate conclusions, and where appropriate indicate the significance of the findings for educational practice and/or further research
