Course overview

This course will critically explore how preservice teachers can use interaction to facilitate learning, foster target language use, facilitate dialogue about language and learning, and monitor and assess language in the classroom. Preservice teacher will reflect critically on the concept of intercultural language learning, and the interaction of language and culture in language learning and use. They will investigate the nature of teacher - learner interaction and the impact of learner background on language learning and use, and critique textbooks from an intercultural and interactionist perspective.

  • Analyse and develop tasks and experiences for language and culture learning
  • Plan and implement lesson plans with a focus on interaction and experience
  • Interpret and apply processes of teaching, learning and formative assessment to classroom interactions
