Course overview
This course will develop educators who are able to implement pedagogies that facilitate engagement and learning for adolescent students that reflect a middle schooling philosophy. Students will examine the learning and social needs of the adolescent. They will consider the implications of student diversity in the middle years and develop strategies for relationship building; managing the learning environment; curriculum integration; collaborative learning; working in teams; negotiation; authentic assessment. The students will appraise strategies used to support middle years students develop their literacy and numeracy.
