Course overview
This course will develop educators who are able to implement pedagogies that facilitate engagement and learning for adolescent students that reflect a middle schooling philosophy. Students will examine the learning and social needs of the adolescent. They will consider the implications of student diversity in the middle years and develop strategies for relationship building; managing the learning environment; curriculum integration; collaborative learning; working in teams; negotiation; authentic assessment. The students will appraise strategies used to support middle years students develop their literacy and numeracy.

- Critically articulate middle schooling pedagogies
- Identify and enact middle schooling pedagogies
- Develop effective practices to engage adolescent students in learning and assessment that reflect middle schooling principles
- Develop practices that promote collaborative middle school learning environments
- Address the diverse needs of adolescent learners including embedding literacy and numeracy support and promoting social skills

If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
