Course overview

This course will expand preservice teachers' application of the curriculum in the senior years of schooling for Science and Mathematics and enhance their capability for teaching and learning across Years 7 to 12. In this course, preservice teachers will unpack the senior secondary curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning mathematics or science. They will critically examine mathematics or science lessons, across Years 7 to 12, and unpack the underlying teaching theories required to plan for and teach singular and/or sequences of learning experiences. Preservice teachers will engage with student work samples and rubrics to explore assessment for and of student learning. Preservice teachers will also critically reflect on their personal practice as a teacher of mathematics or science, to better understand their strengths and areas for improvements.
