Course overview

To introduce theory and practices of Creative Body-based Learning (CBL) as a broad pedagogical approach for working toward inclusion across diverse learning settings.

Course learning outcomes

  • Investigate intersections between arts, body-based pedagogies and critical theory, applying key arguments and skills to creative body-based practices
  • Articulate learning theory which supports the use of a creative and body-based learning approach
  • Identify opportunities and challenges offered by various curriculum and/or discipline-based content when planning CBL based work
  • Examine the role of context and participant/facilitator identity in the design and implementation of creative body-based learning experiences
  • Design, facilitate and revise creative body-based learning experiences using a variety of approaches and techniques
  • Assess and critically evaluate creative body-based learning experiences with attention to participants' experiences as well as role as a teacher/facilitator
  • Reflect critically on teaching abilities and classroom management skills for diverse learners
