Course overview
The outcome of this course is the completion of a dissertation. The dissertation reports a research project conducted with the guidance of an academic supervisor and contributes to education knowledge. Students will critically analyse and evaluate existing knowledge about a problem of interest and design and conduct a research project investigating the problem, with implications for better educational practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify and investigate a research problem; gather, form and critique knowledge from research studies
- Apply an appropriate research design and associated methods rigorously
- Draw appropriate conclusions and indicate the significance of the findings for educational practice and research
- Conduct the research project in an ethical fashion and report it in a scholarly fashion appropriate to the disciplinary area
