Course overview
This course will provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in designing and conducting qualitative research in an educational context. Students will develop a critical understanding of the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of different qualitative research methodologies. The course will consider the practical and ethical implications associated with different methodological approaches and examine different frameworks and perspectives which are used in the analysis of qualitative data. Students will be supported in writing up the results of their research and communicating these findings to diverse audiences.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of qualitative research paradigms, approaches, methodologies, and theories
- Explain methodological and ethical considerations, including their own positionality, which must be addressed when conducting qualitative research
- Understand the theoretical and practical foundations for different inductive and deductive approaches to analysing qualitative data
- Show their competency in reporting qualitative research findings using different dissemination strategies to enhance the reach and impact of their research
