To critically examine current issues concerning the nature of numeracy, mathematical understanding, and the development of numeracy in K-12.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically evaluate relevant research on the development of numeracy and mathematics
  • Critically analyse key contemporary issues in numeracy and mathematics in the local context in the light of national and international developments
  • Analyse international data and research on numeracy and mathematics performance
  • Relate research findings to their own experience as practitioners and leaders of mathematics curriculum
