Course overview

This course will develop informed and critical understandings of leadership theory and practice related to fostering learner-centred curriculum environments. Students will examine contemporary research and develop understandings of key elements of empowering pedagogy in order to create professional environments that incorporate: Contextualized funds of knowledge with and through the local community; Improving local community circumstances through inquiry-based learning; Clearly articulated learning intentions with negotiated curriculum as embedded practice; Engaging learners with dialogic learning practice; Engaging learners in critical conversations about their learning.
