Course overview

This course will develop students' professional approaches to the management of learning environments, establishing relationships between effective management approaches and the teaching and learning process for whole student development within an Islamic worldview. To examine effective models, approaches and strategies that promote the refinement of character, develop productive learner behaviours and foster inclinations and habits toward ethical and moral conduct with a spiritual awareness. Students will develop critical knowledge of the learning process within an Islamic pedagogy including approaches to management which promote engaging learning environments. This includes the development of principles and practices informed by Islamic Research Methodology and within an Islamic pedagogy which underpin effective management of learning environment ecologies for Islamic schools. Critical analysis of child development theory in an Islamic worldview integrates management and character development whereby implications on pedagogy and both classroom and whole-school approaches in support of whole student development and wellbeing are examined. Students will apply Islamic Research Methodology to draw upon principles to guide decisions and actions in selecting from a variety of approaches to promote learner engagement, character, participation, wellbeing and handling unproductive learner behaviour.
