Course overview

To introduce students to the spectrum of competing influences and values which shape Design and Technology Education.

Course learning outcomes

  • identify and describe a range of issues that inform the shaping of Design and Technology Education for sustainability
  • demonstrate basic knowledge of Design and Technology curriculum
  • trace the relationships between the individual, schools, society and Design and Technology Education
  • recognise the centrality of critiquing and designing to sustainable technological practice
  • articulate a defence of Design and Technology Education as a component of the general education of all school students
  • analyse their personal potential and limitations as beginning Design and Technology Education professionals
