Course overview

To develop knowledge of appropriate educational policy, curriculum planning and resourcing, multiliteracies in the arts; new technologies, 'best' contemporary arts practice, authentic evaluation, assessment and reporting.

Course learning outcomes

  • Develop long term planning and evaluation skills focusing upon arts curriculum perspectives including inclusivity, multiculturalism, visual cultures, new learning technologies, and visual literacies
  • Critically analyse arts curriculum documents
  • Demonstrate understanding of authentic assessment practices applicable to the visual and performing arts
  • Demonstrate ability to use multiple forms of literacy to understand, analyse and interpret aesthetic intentionality in visual, performing and media arts
  • Develop teaching strategies that will assist school students to apply the language of arts to communicate ideas and feelings in visual, performing and media art forms
  • Develop understanding of cross-curricular links, including literacy, numeracy and the use of ICT in the Arts
