Course overview
This course will allow preservice teachers to locate, engage with, critique and synthesise educational theory, policy and literature to inform and appraise practice. This course is a broad introduction to educational research including a range of educational theories that underpin understandings of education and teaching practice. Preservice teachers will develop skills and knowledge of how to locate, engage with, critique and synthesise literature, policy, research and educational theory to critically analyse and appraise their pedagogical decision making.
Course learning outcomes

- Engage with and extend knowledge of contemporary theoretical perspectives, policy, research and practice in education
- Apply educational theories, research and policy to the planning and development of teaching and learning practices
- Critically analyse and appraise pedagogical decisions with reference to theory, literature and policy
