Course overview

For preservice teachers to extend their knowledge of inclusive practices to address the diversity of learner needs within a range of educational settings.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critique theory, interpretations, knowledge and educational practice in relation to inclusivity and diversity
  • Critically analyse current inclusion strategies
  • Describe types of special educational needs, disability and student diversity
  • Apply knowledge of inclusion which promotes rich and engaging learning environments for all learners
  • Critically analyse relevant legislative, ethical and policy requirements and discuss in relation to inclusion
  • Evaluate the relationship and implications of educational practices, working with families, support services and community groups
