Course overview

This course will equip students with the ability to deliver exercise programs to meet the health, fitness and/or performance goals of apparently healthy clients. Additionally, graduates will be able to operate under the supervision of an appropriate health professional. Monitoring and progressing exercise load; delivery of appropriate exercise modalities to suit the needs and capabilities of clients; recognition and correction of unsafe/dysfunctional movement patterns; exercise to optimize client learning and execution.

Course learning outcomes

  • Monitor, evaluate and progress as appropriate exercise load using mechanical, physiological and/or perceptual methods
  • Identify, describe, analyse and demonstrate a broad range of exercise modalities, and select exercise type and load appropriate to suit client needs and abilities
  • Safely deliver individual exercise sessions using a range of modalities and loads following achievement of course objective 2
  • Document and report progress and outcomes to clients and / or health professionals both verbally and in writing
  • Describe professional practices when applying programs from other health professionals
