Course overview
This aim of this course is to develop preservice teachers’ capacity to plan sequences of learning and assessment in mathematics that supports participation and learning of all students; integrate digital technologies as appropriate; and to use student thinking to inform teacher practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Effectively plan, implement, and evaluate sequences of learning in mathematics that support the participation and learning of all students
- Select and critique appropriate digital technologies for supporting student conceptual understanding in mathematics
- Effectively plan for eliciting and using evidence of student thinking to inform teacher practice
- Develop, select, and use a range of assessment strategies that support the development of conceptual understanding in mathematics
- Observe and analyse teacher practice, with a particular focus on student responses
- Critically reflect on personal growth and development as a teacher of mathematics
