Pre-service teachers will further develop their expertise in operating state of the art machinery and maintaining best workshop practices. Additionally, Pre-service teachers are introduced to sustainability in design and production processes while ensuring all practices meet WHS requirements.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically analyse and apply a design process to research, design and develop innovative products using sustainable materials, processes, technologies and systems
  • Identify and explain the specific characteristics, properties and appropriate usage of various types of materials and composite materials, in a specific context
  • Apply WHS knowledge to competently and safely operate a range of state-of-the-art digital equipment as well as hand and power tools and machines to realise products in tangible materials, in a specific context
  • Analyse and apply critical reflection in evaluating products in terms of design, materials and systems production
