Course overview

This course aims to introduce preservice teachers to the skills, knowledge and professional expertise associated with teaching and learning in textile technologies, in both primary and middle school settings. There is a strong focus on integrating both the theoretical and practical aspects of textile technologies.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of design principles and thinking, and the connection to practical skills
  • Identify and integrate topical and ethical aspects of the textile industry into the planning and production of solutions
  • Exhibit practical skill in the production of textile solutions suitable for the middle school classroom
  • Apply WHS knowledge in identifying, applying and using tools and equipment in the textile technology middle school classroom, with a focus on technologies
