Course overview
This course deepens the critical thinking and practical reasoning of economics in modelling and evaluating the role of the public sector in the economy, why government intervention is needed, how it influences the choices of the private sector and the welfare effects of such influences.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of core concepts and analytical frameworks in Public Economics.
- Apply theoretical models to critically analyse policy issues faced by governments across diverse institutional and political settings.
- Develop evidence-based policy case study, informed by public economics theory, and evaluate their feasibility considering economic, political, and implementation constraints.
- Demonstrate good inter-personal and communication skills in the rigorous application of economic analysis and providing policy insights.
