Course overview
Building on the concepts and skills acquired in previous film and television production courses, the course introduces students to the key elements, techniques and practices of non-narrative film production and art house cinema. Students will extend their knowledge of film production through researching key avant-garde film makers and movements. They will apply their understanding by producing their own short form experimental film.
Course learning outcomes
- Undertake in-depth experimental and exploratory study of a particular film form, genre or formal technique
- Conceptualise and design a creative artefact which tests the technical and aesthetic boundaries of a film form, genre or technique
- Produce an artefact which technically and aesthetically tests the boundaries of a film form, genre or technique and develops advanced creative insight and understanding
- Apply professional practice expectations

If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
