Course overview
In this course students will work in teams to build real-world exhibitions or curate a hypothetical festival. They will explore the art and practices integral to developing vibrate creative industries, focusing on curation, performance and exhibition. Students' projects will be informed by recent scholarship and conceptual thinking regarding audiences, industries and future technologies. Their learning will be supported by guest lectures from galleries, libraries and museums (GLAM), and other cultural sectors.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the curatorial processes that support festivals and exhibition events
- Apply management skills in practice required for an event, including planning and development
- Prepare and deliver curated event documentation, such as a program guide for an event, or catalogue for an exhibition
- Apply effective communication strategies with key stakeholders for successful festival planning and logistics
