Course overview

This interdisciplinary studio-based course presents opportunities for students to work together to solve real world problems for an industry partner. Students will develop their abilities to connect ideas and experience across specific creative disciplines, and to develop interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding. Working in teams, students will share responsibility and develop leadership capacities. The focus of projects includes a variety of crucial social challenges faced by arts and cultural community organisations, social enterprise; low carbon living and green industries; health and wellbeing; education; and creative enterprise development. This course culminates in a creative arts project showcase event.

Course learning outcomes

  • Scope and undertake research relevant to a client focused project
  • Collaborate within cross-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary teams to create an output that meets clients’ objectives
  • Write up and present a rationale, approach, and final project proposal to relevant professional standard
  • Articulate how one’s own creative thinking and practice demonstrates the use of art to innovatively respond to social problems and enable the imagining of new futures
