Course overview
This course aims to provide students with the capabilities they will need to build intercultural understanding in the environments they live and work in. Through an exploration of how people engage in learning and communication and how people sense and make sense of the world around them in culturally influenced ways, the course develops the capacity of students to help others feel adequately recognised for who they culturally are.
Course learning outcomes
- Explain how human life is (inter)cultural, which demonstrates understanding of how different groupings of people can meaningfully have different and changing ways of life
- Analyse different sources and instances of cultural diversity and cultural similarity relating to learning, sensing, and communicating
- Value the recognition of diverse cultural perspectives in intercultural experiences
- Critically reflect on how their own ways of being are culturally recognised and apply this understanding to foster belonging and equity for others
