Course overview
Students will develop skills to navigate cultural interfaces through deep listening, reflection, and engagement with different knowledge systems, while learning practical applications across disciplines. The course builds capabilities for cross-cultural dialogue that respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Course learning outcomes
- Engage with plural and diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and becoming in relation to Country through deep listening, sharing story, understanding ongoing colonialism and engaging reflexive practice
- Explore the interconnected relationships between environmental, cultural, and social systems through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and knowledge frameworks
- Embody principles of relationality and reciprocity in knowledge sharing and community dialogue, grounded in cultural protocols and respectful engagement
- Practice transformative ways of being that connect deeply with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems and challenge deficit narratives in various contexts
- Analyse personal and peer experiences through intersectional critical theory to identify opportunities for transformative professional and social change
