Course overview

The course aims to equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to identify and effectively engage with stakeholders.

This course delves into the identification of relevant stakeholders, including vendors and other external parties; processes and planning to effectively manage relevant stakeholders; leadership, effective communication skills, negotiation and influencing skills when engaging with stakeholders throughout the enterprise as an IT subject matter expert. Learners will reflect on their own behaviours, personal values, work styles, personality type and emotional intelligence. Throughout the course the principles of inclusion and diversity, ethics, culture, international trends and industry best practices will be upheld and applied. Learners will work individually and in teams to develop skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.

This course aligns with the program intent to provide a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder engagement context of enterprise IT management.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify relevant stakeholders and manage change when implementing complex IT solutions.
  • Communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical business stakeholders in both oral and written form by applying cognitive, technical and creative skills
  • Apply specialised knowledge and skills to complex situations to identify and communicate the benefits to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Demonstrate appropriate professional acumen when engaging with stakeholders, including an awareness of intercultural norms and values when engaging with stakeholders
  • Reflect on personal values, attributes and behaviours and how they inform professional actions.
  • Work effectively in a team and navigate conflict situations arising from stakeholder engagement.
