Course overview

This immersive industry based course, delivered on-site at Rising Sun Pictures, will build upon students’ existing visual effects knowledge, and familiarises students with professional practice in the visual effects industry. In this course, students will become familiar with tracking and layout techniques. Students will undertake up to ten production projects and develop familiarity and expertise with key layout and camera tracking techniques including scaling, building proxy geometry, matchmove rigging, camera export, lens distortion and survey registration. By the completion of the course, students will have acquired the skills required to produce industry standard 3D tracked film sequences.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically analyse and implement industry-standard 3D tracking production practices
  • Apply key tools and techniques within industry standard software to generate professional quality 3D tracked film sequences
  • Demonstrate autonomy and adaptability in planning and managing a program of work to meet a production brief and its deadline through iterative project submission and review
  • Demonstrate direction within a simulated team environment and produce work that meets industry-standard quality assurance and review processes
