Course overview

This immersive industry based course, delivered on-site at Rising Sun Pictures, will build upon students’ existing visual effects knowledge, and familiarises students with professional practice in the visual effects industry. In this course, students will be introduced to current practices and roles in the visual effects industry. Students will develop familiarity with the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively within the global visual effects industry and how these are applied within various departments of visual effects production companies including production management, operations and workflows, business development, pipeline management, production accounting and human resources. Students will gain knowledge of the different career pathways available within the industry.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify the pre-requisite skills and knowledge required to operate within the visual effects industry
  • Interpret the interrelationship between various roles and departments within a visual effects production company
  • Identify how the activity of different visual effects departments contributes to a complete project
  • Critically evaluate the role and responsibilities of a visual effects professional
