Course overview

This immersive full semester course, delivered on-site at Rising Sun Pictures, will build upon students’ existing visual effects knowledge, and familiarises students with professional practice in the visual effects industry, providing the theory, skills, and techniques to produce industry-standard compositing and layout projects. Students will be able to demonstrate advanced skills in plate preparation, rotoscoping, and 3D tracking. Students will also develop a completed showreel and resume in addition to gaining practical hands-on experience with industry mentoring.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically analyse and implement industry-standard compositing and tracking production practices
  • Apply key tools and techniques within industry standard software to generate professional quality composited film sequences
  • Apply key tools and techniques within industry standard software to generate professional quality tracked film sequences
  • Plan and effectively manage a program of work to meet a production brief and its deadline, through iterative project submission and review
