Course overview

This course will provide students with the opportunity to undertake short term individual shadowing and mentoring experiences in those domains of interest identified in the first course, and to encourage reflection on their experience to enhance self-realisation in relation to the career opportunities to which they aspire. The course provides students with the opportunity to experience and engage with two organisations that they have chosen and researched in the Professional Directions Program 1 course. This involves ethnographic shadowing of and mentoring by members of the organisations across a range of roles and activities relevant to the students' interests and aspirations. Students will document, reflect on and synthesise their experiences, capabilities and disciplinary interests to identify and plan for specific career options. In doing so, they will create a document that communicates the relevance of their capabilities and experience to specific domains of life and work.

Course learning outcomes

  • Document and reflect on experience in chosen organisations.
  • Synthesise experience, capabilities and disciplinary conjunctions to identify career options.
