Course overview

To familiarise students with the terms, concepts, techniques, processes, skills, technologies, and theoretical underpinning of 3D CGI for film, animation, and visual effects production. The course introduces students to the foundational theory and techniques required to create short 3D animated productions; from idea generation, visual communication, and character design, through to the technical processes of animating, lighting, setting up cameras and rendering in Maya and Unreal Engine. During the course students develop skills and ideas through structured exercises, projects and studio work.
